An Indiana teenager could face charges after calling 911 and telling the dispatcher that he was suicidal and in possession of a firearm.
The call came in at 9:25 Wednesday night, and the 16-year-old boy said he was walking in the area of Grandview Avenue near South Third Street. State police sent four troopers out and found him sitting by the road. He then stood up, holding what looked like a revolver, and pointed it at his head. Troopers gave verbal orders to lower the gun, and at first the boy would not, but later he did. He was immediately taken into custody after he dropped the weapon. When troopers got an up-close look at the gun, they found out it was a toy.
The boy was taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center for a mental health evaluation and for treatment of minor injuries suffered while being apprehended. Charges of recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct are pending. His name is not being released as he is a juvenile.
