Paul V. Sherry, III, age 70 of Shelocta, died Saturday, September 21, 2019, at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born in 1948 in Pittsburgh to the late Paul V. Sherry Jr. and Catherine (Styslinger) (Sherry) Dunbar.
Paul was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus No. 1481, and he was a Grand Knight for four years.
He was a veteran in the US Navy where he served in the Vietnam war. Paul was in the Gulf of Tonkin and served on both the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt and the USS Shangri-La aircraft carriers.
Paul and his wife Carmella first moved to Indiana in 1974 to purchase the 7/11 franchise. Paul then co-founded 422 Homes in Indiana, PA, which grew into six different locations throughout Western PA. His two sons worked alongside him until he retired in 2014. During his career, Paul received several awards for his small business. He was a true entrepreneur all of his life.
He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Paul loved to golf. He did extensive traveling with his wife.
Paul is survived by his wife of 47 years – Carmella (Blose) Sherry, Shelocta; two sons – Paul V. (Camille) Sherry IV, Shelocta, and Vincent D. (Nicole) Sherry, Cheswick, PA; six grandchildren – Paul V. Sherry V, Chanel R. Sherry, Taylor J. Sherry, Vincent D. Sherry II, Aslin K. Sherry, Callum T. Sherry; one great granddaughter – Genevieve D. Sherry; two brothers – Joe Sherry, and Matthew (Carla) Sherry; and two sisters – Kathy (William) Focareta, and Nancy (Al) Wilson.
In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by two sisters – Christina (Jeff) Hemphill, and Margaret Dunbar; and one brother – Lewis Dunbar.
Services will be private. Bowser-Minich Inc. Funeral Home, Indiana, has been entrusted with arrangements.
