A 15-year-old Rochester Mills boy has been charged with drug and weapons offenses for having banned items at Marion Center High School on Thursday. State police say the boy had a glass container with suspected marijuana in it, a smoking pipe, stainless steel smoking screens, and a knife in his book bag inside the school. He’s charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and prohibited weapons on school property. The case has been referred to Indiana County Juvenile Probation.
Police were also called to investigate a fight between a 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy on Wednesday at United High School.
Indiana-based state police are investigating a confrontation between two men in the Saltsburg area. The incident happened along Loyalhanna Dam Road in Westmoreland County on Thursday morning. Police say 35-year-old Joshua Maloney blocked 73-year-old Raymond Curtis’ movement on his riding mower, switching the mower off, and then police say he swung a weed whacker at Aul and threatened to beat him up and hit him with the weed whacker. Charges have not yet been filed.
18-year-old Aisha Conteh of Indiana has been charged with retail theft after police say she under-rang items at the self-checkout area at the White Township Walmart on September 12th. Total value of the items was $70.37.
State troopers were summoned to the Indiana Regional Medical Center’s ER on Friday night for an out-of-control man. They found 35-year-old Kevin Dodds of Indiana extremely intoxicated and arguing with hospital security personnel. Dodds was arrested for public drunkenness and taken to the county jail.
42-year-old Len Lydic of Clymer was taken into custody and charged with criminal trespass on Thursday evening after police say he was caught leaving a garage he wasn’t supposed to be in along Morris Street. The homeowner arrived home in time to see Lydic coming out of the building. Nothing was taken.
State police are also investigating a rock-throwing incident in White Township. Someone cracked the windshield on the car of Karen Shirey at 10 AM on Tuesday on Oakland Avenue. There were no witnesses.
