Last night, the Homer-Center School Board discussed a program that is coming to the school in early October that is designed to spread a message of acceptance.
The board approved the use of the High School Auditorium from 6:00 to 7:30 PM on October 9th for a community launch event for the Rachael’s Challenge community kick-off event. This coincides with the student kickoff and leadership training for this program on October 8th and 9th. The Rachael’s Challenge program was started by Darrell and Sandy Scott, whose were the parents of Rachael, one of the first children killed in the Columbine Massacre. Board member Vicki Smith talked about what the program will teach.
The community kickoff event on October 9th is open to everyone.
In other business, the board approved changing the club Teens Against Destructive Decisions or TADD to the national Students Against Destructive Decisions, or SADD. It was said that by aligning with SADD, the district’s club would receive national accreditation and additional club resources.
