State police have filed drug charges against a Latrobe man who was found passed out last week in a pickup truck at the parking lot of the Days Inn, along Route 22 in Burrell Township.
Police were called to assist Emergency Medical Services personnel after 41-year-old Chad Everett Ghrist was found unconscious in his truck, with the door open, behind the hotel at 1:45 Saturday morning. Ghrist had a plastic bag containing about 4.3 grams of suspected heroin, eighteen full stamp bags of suspected heroin, and a small white straw used for snorting drugs. The investigation revealed that he had driven to the hotel after taking heroin.
Ghrist was taken into custody and placed in the Indiana County Jail. He’s charged with felony possession with intent to deliver, plus misdemeanor simple possession, possession of paraphernalia, and driving under the influence of a controlled substance. He is free after posting $5,000 bond and is due for a preliminary hearing on October 2nd.
