Giant Eagle is joining a list of supermarkets and stores that are asking their customers to leave any firearms at home.
In a statement posted online, Giant Eagle is saying that they have updated a long-standing policy about customers who openly carry firearms into their store, saying it is their preference now that customers not openly carry firearms at Giant Eagle, GetGo or Market District locations. In that statement, they say they “respect the rights of each individual who chooses to shop with us” but they are also aware of the concern that they may feel when they see someone other than a law enforcement official openly carry a gun.
