At IUP’s annual 9-11 remembrance program held earlier today in the Oak Grove, those in attendance were reminded once again to “never forget.”
“Never Forget” was the theme of the speech of Keven Thelen, IUP’s Director of Public Safety and Police, one of the two keynote speakers at this year’s ceremony. Thelen said that it has a whole new meaning now that there are generations of people who were not even born when planes crashed into the World Trade Center in New York, The Pentagon in Washington, DC, and a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and do not know the emotions that people went through that day.
The other guest speaker was IUP Chief Marketing Officer Chris Noah, who lived in New Jersey and worked in New York 18 years ago. Noah said that 9-11 had a big impact on his personal life.
Music for the ceremony was provided by IUP’s Wind Ensemble.

For the last 18 years, IUP has held 9-11 remembrance ceremonies in the oak grove, making sure that people “never forget” what happened on that fateful day in 2001.
