If you’re in the northern part of Center Township or live near Homer City, you may be waking up this morning without power.
Homer City Fire Department was called out for miscellaneous duty at a location on Route 119 South in the area of Center Township at 6:21 this morning. They were followed up by a call to the Coral-Graceton Fire department about ten minutes later.
Homer City Fire Chief Terry Gardner confirmed that there was a transformer fire in the area and Penelec has confirmed that there are two outages: one near Lucernemines and the other near Homer City itself, with a total of 1776 customers affected by the outages as of 7:15 this morning. Penelec crews are on their way to the scenes right now. They are anticipating power to be restored around 9:30 this morning.
The outage has triggered a 2-hour delay this morning for the Homer-Center School District.
