No one was hurt in a fire in Cherryhill Township last night that damaged parts of a two-story wood-framed home.
Cherryhill Township, Clymer, Commodore and Pine Township fire departments were called out along with the RIG team and Citizen’s ambulance for a home at 1234 Country Road. Cherryhill Township Fire Chief Jody Rainey said that the highest concentration of fire was in the kitchen and dining areas, and while they worked quickly to knock the initial fire down, the fire had spread to the attic, so teams had to attack there. Most of the damage was confined to the kitchen, dining room and attic. The upper floor of the house took on a lot of smoke and water damage, while rooms on the lower floor took on minimal damage, as they were protected with salvage tarps.
The home had one occupant, who was not identified. While he is physically okay, he did request the Red Cross help him find shelter for the night.
