As the outages that came from a blown transformer in Lucernemines were about to be fixed, more outages came, hitting a wider area.
Power went out in Indiana Borough around 11:56 this morning for Indiana Borough, Homer City Borough, Center Township and portions of White Township. Penelec is reporting that in Indiana Borough, Center Township and Homer City borough, over 1,000 of their customers are without power in each municipality. White Township’s outage affected 244 customers. Smaller outages have also been reported up and down the Route 119 Corridor between Indiana and Blacklick.
There was also an outage reported by REA Energy near the Jimmy Stewart Airport that affected around 1500 customers. That has since been fixed.
Indiana Fire Association was called out to Water Street at 12:04 PM for a report of lines down.
Penelec reports that power should be restored by 3:00 PM today.
