Center Township supervisors announced last night the company that got the winning bid for paving earlier this year may not be able to perform the work.
The roads that need to be sealed include Smith, Henry and Power Plant Roads; Booster Drive, and a portion of Long Road. Township Supervisors Chairman Dave “Butch” Smyers said that Russell Standard put in the winning bid for the roadwork back in the spring. But at last night’s meeting, Smyers said that some extenuating circumstances may prevent Russell Standard from doing the work.
Smyers talked about how important it is to get those roads sealed.
He said that they hope to get everything set in place with Russell Standard as soon as possible. An email to Russell Standard with several options has been sent, but if they are unable to perform the work, the supervisors will check with the other bidders to see if they can step up and get the work done.
In other news, crews have started to install drainage in Aultman for the storm sewer project. Right now, crews are in the area of 4th street, and while they have found some issues with other lines, they are on schedule, and the project should wrap up at the end of the month, with the top of the road going on next month.
