State police are investigating a methamphetamine manufacturing operation at a home in Armstrong Township.
Troopers went to the home Friday morning after being notified by Indiana Borough Police about the suspected meth lab. The resident there gave permission to search the home at 2505 Parkwood Road and several items used in the manufacture of meth were found, in the basement, garbage, and a burn pit. The Clandestine Laboratory Response Team was summoned to process the scene and collect the contraband.
State troopers also searched the suspect’s vehicle parked near West Burrell Street in Blairsville and found additional meth-related items.
Felony charges of operating a methamphetamine laboratory, illegal dumping of meth waste and manufacturing a controlled substance are pending against a 34-year-old Shelocta man. Because a newborn baby was in the house, the suspect faces possible felony charges of manufacture of meth with a person under 18 years old present and endangering the welfare of children. Also pending are misdemeanor charges of possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia and possession of pseudoephedrine for methamphetamine manufacture.
Police say additional information will be released when charges are filed.
