Last night, the Indiana School Board re-stated their position by letting a motion to further study a three-elementary school plan that would close Horace Mann elementary school die for lack of a second.
The motion was initially made by Doug Steve, but when asked for a second, no one on the board wished to move the topic further. School board member John Barbor said that while he may agree that a three-school system may work, now is not the time for that motion.
In his Board President’s Message, Walter Schroth defended the board and its use of Robert’s Rules of Order, and for the process the board uses to put a motion on the agenda. Schroth said that as far as the meetings are concerned, all voices have to be heard, whether the opinion presented is a popular one or not.
In other business, the board approved the hiring of a para-educator, a supplemental Spanish teacher, and four extra duty/extra pay assignments were also approved. Those assignments focused on the Senior High theatrical productions for the upcoming year.
