The Blairsville Colts, champions of the Indiana County League, defeated Spaghetti Benders, champions of the Indiana Area Baseball Boosters, 5-3, on Wednesday night to claim the Indiana County Overall Championship at S&T Field in Indiana.
The game was tied at three with the Colts batting in the top of the seventh when Joe Culler singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
The Colts got on the board in the first inning. David Doak drove in one when he singled.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Spaghetti Bender’s tied things up at three with a single, scoring one run.
Brandon McCormick was the winning pitcher for the Colts. He lasted two innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out three. Matt Bashioum threw one inning in relief. Bashioum recorded the last three outs to earn the save.
Erick Skultety took the loss for Spaghetti Bender’s. He lasted three innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out four and walking none.
Nick Ross started the game for Blairsville. He surrendered two runs on five hits over four innings, striking out eight and walking one.
Culler went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Colts in hits.
