WHAT WE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED
A fire truck from the Cherryhill Township Fire Department was totaled in a crash Monday morning near Yellow Creek State Park.
Cherryhill Fire Chief Jody Rainey said their primary rescue truck was summoned to a crash in Strongstown involving a coal truck and a box truck, but before it got to the scene, the fire truck went through guide rails, went down an embankment and crashed along Route 422 Eastbound near the entrance of Yellow Creek State Park. There were no serious injuries reported in the crash, but fire department members on the fire truck were taken to IRMC to be checked out. All the firefighters were able to get out of the truck. The department is in the process of determining if any of the equipment stored on the truck, like tools and kits, are still usable.
Rainey said that while they may not have their main rescue engine, they will be ready for any rescue calls.
Other fire companies have also offered equipment and apparatus, but Cherryhill Township will take a look at what they need before they reach out for assistance.
Rainey said that he also heard word that there were no serious injuries in the Strongstown collision.
