One of the fire trucks that is a part of the Cherryhill Township Fire Department’s fleet was totaled in a crash earlier today.
Cherryhill Township Fire Chief Jody Rainey said that the fire department was responding to a vehicle accident in Strongstown involving a coal truck and a box truck when the Cherryhill Rescue Truck number 242 went over an embankment on Route 422 east near the entrance of Yellow Creek State Park.
No serious injuries were reported, but it was reported that the truck was a total loss. Rainey said that the truck was considered their “Front Line Rescue Truck”, but they do have a secondary rescue truck that they will press into service.
The cause of the crash has not been determined as of yet, but state police have been called out to investigate. PennDOT, Indiana Fire Association and the Brush Valley Fire Department assisted with traffic control and a heavy-duty tow truck has been called in to pull the truck from the embankment.
