At last night’s Indiana School Board Meeting, the board got an introduction to “Indiana County Ready” from Chamber of Commerce president Mark Hilliard.
Hilliard explained the program, which would be offered at this time to volunteer students. Those who take the class and receive a high enough score would receive the “Indiana County Ready” designation, and they would also have a cord for their graduation robes to signify they completed the course satisfactorily. Superintendent Michael Vukovich says these “soft skills” as they have been called by others are some of the skills that the district has been trying to instill in the kids since kindergarten.
In other business, the board approved the list of extra-duty/extra pay assignments, creating the Dean of Students position, and signed a security contract with Armstrong Lock and Security, LLC to provide armed security services on school days, extra-curricular activities, and sporting events.
