The United School Board agreed to expand the district’s Pre-K Counts Program to include three-year-old children at last night’s working session, after hearing a presentation from Director of Education Patricia Berezansky.
While Berezansky says that state-wide recruitment concerns were the initial reason for presenting this idea to the board, engaging children in the learning process sooner is at the heart of her efforts.
United’s Pre-K Counts Program is a full-day, state-funded program offered to families who meet the program’s income guidelines. Previously, the program was limited to children turning four by September 1st of this year.
Parents interested in the program should contact the United School District at 814-446-5615 and use extension 1312.
