The Steelers held a Sunday night practice at Heinz Field and TJ Watt returned to the field for his first action of training camp. He’s been out with a tight hamstring. Watt led the team with thirteen sacks last year. He worked out in individual drills last night.
Running back James Conner saw his first contact action of camp in a goal-line drill. Maurkice Pouncey left the field with a slight injury. And kicker Chris Boswell made seven out of eight field goal tries, missing from 50 yards at the open end of the stadium and hitting one from 54 yards at the closed end. His competition for the kicking job, rookie Matthew Wright, was five-for-eight.
The Steelers open the preseason Friday night at Heinz Field against Tampa Bay.
