The struggling Altoona Curve were bested by a big inning by Reading last night in a 7-2 loss. Altoona (55-56, 19-24) has now lost 11 of 13 and the Curve are 19-24 in the second half of the season. They are below .500 for the first time since June 8.
After Altoona took a 2-0 lead, Reading jumped on Curve starter Cody Bolton with two outs in the fifth, plating five runs. Jack Conley homered, and Alec Bohm followed later in the inning with a three-run shot.
The Curve’s runs came on an RBI single by Jared Oliva in the fourth inning, and a solo home run by Robbie Glendinning in the fifth.
The Curve finish their road trip lefty Domingo Robles on the mound against Reading’s Adonis Medina. First pitch is scheduled for 5:15.
