Today marks the 50th anniversary of when astronauts on the Apollo 11 mission landed on the moon, and there will be some activities locally to celebrate the occasion.
The Indiana Free Library will host a special Moon landing day party starting at 1:00 at the library. NASA enthusiast Ron Powell will be on hand to talk about space travel, the moon landing and many different astronauts. Kids will also get the opportunity to make moon sand, among other crafts, and there will also be a playing of the footage of Neil Armstrong taking the first steps on the moon.
The activities run from 1-3 today.
