Blairsville Borough Council met last night and accepted a bid for a sinkhole remediation project on North Spring Street. As per the recommendation of Remington & Vernick Engineers, the council awarded the project to Ligonier Construction in the amount of $91,300.
Borough Manager Tim Evans says that residents can expect the project to be completed by the end of the year.

According to Evans, approximately $13,000 of the $91,300 project will be funded by the borough, but the remainder of the project will be funded by the PennDOT Multimodal Transportation Fund and County Liquid Fuels Program. Evans says a pre-construction meeting with Ligonier Construction is set for this Thursday, July 18.
Council also heard from the Blairsville Community Development Authority, who requested approval for a beer garden at this year’s Knotweed Festival. Council voted to grant the request, pending the BCDA’s successful attainment of a Special Occasion Permit from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.
The Knotweed Festival will take place August 10 in downtown Blairsville.
