State police have released more details into the investigation of a shooting at the Burrell Township Days Inn earlier this month.
State police said yesterday that they were able to bring David Lee McGinnis into custody without incident yesterday around 12:53 PM in Indiana County. McGinnis was wanted in connection with the July 1st shooting at the hotel on Route 22 near Blairsville. Shortly before his apprehension, State Police issued another news release saying that they were looking for a second suspect. Police are now looking for Justin Edwin Libengood, a 30-year-old whose last known address was in Somerset.
Police say that Libengood tried to rob McGinnis inside the hotel room around 9:30 AM, and police said he produced a firearm during the robbery. A fight between the two ensued and the two were seen on security footage fleeing the building after the shooting. McGinnis is believed to have suffered a gunshot wound to the back of the neck during the altercation.
Libengood now faces charges of attempted robbery, aggravated assault, persons not permitted to carry a firearm, and discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, all felonies. If you have any information on Libengood’s whereabouts, call state police at 724-357-1960.
