Westmoreland County Judge Christopher Feliciani has set July 31st for a hearing on Clayton Mibroda’s petition for relief from his conviction and prison sentence in the death of his infant daughter in 2011.
In 2013, Mibroda was found guilty of third degree murder for inflicting fatal injuries to 20-day-old Natalee Mibroda at their Bolivar home. The baby was pronounced dead at the Indiana Regional Medical Center on December 27th, 2011.
Last July, Judge Feliciani appointed attorney Timothy Andrews to interview Brandon Green, an Indiana man who sent Mibroda a letter claiming he had evidence that would exonerate him for the baby’s death. Mibroda has maintained that it was Natalee’s mother, Kayla Lichtenfels, who caused the fatal injuries, and Green had a previous relationship with Lichtenfels. The judge noted at the time that he wanted further clarification of new evidence and to “access previous issues which may not have been allowed by (Mibroda’s) former counsel.
Attorney Andrews also interviewed four other men, presumably in connection with Green’s claims. Andrews is now listed as Mibroda’s attorney.
Mibroda has had numerous appeals denied in the past. He is serving fifteen to thirty years at SCI Greene County.
