UPDATE: State police have provided more information on the fatal crash this morning. Police say that 26-year-old Tyler Zeigler of Butler and 59-year-old Mark Kirkpatrick of Summerville were both killed in the crash this morning on Route 28. The crash was reported near Deanville Road. The two pickup trucks they were driving collided nearly head-on.
WHAT WE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED
State police from the Kittanning barracks are investigating a fatal vehicle crash reported on Routes 28 and 66 near Wadding Road in Mahoning Township, Armstrong County.
Few details are available on how the crash happened. State police are saying that two vehicles were involved with at least one person killed in the crash. Other injuries were reported but the extent of the injuries is not known. The Armstrong County Coroner is on the scene right now, and State Police are also there to determine the cause of the crash. The road was closed in both directions and traffic was being re-routed, but the road is expected to be re-opened by now.
The identity of the person killed will be released later pending notification of next of kin and further investigation.
