It’s the first day of July and it’s a very busy day in Indiana County Court, with a few dozen cases scheduled, including sentencings, several non-jury trials, and numerous plea court proceedings.
There are twelve cases coming before the court for sentencing, with one defendant involved in three of them. In all, 40-year-old Jeremy Michael Clawson of Ernest pleaded guilty to possessing materials used for manufacturing illegal drugs, to operating a methamphetamine lab, to depositing or storing chemical waste and endangering the welfare of children.
30-year-old Henry Hobart of Homer City will be sentenced in two cases, for possession of drug paraphernalia and for two counts of burglary and two counts of theft.
26-year-old Allan Mahan of Punxsutawney will be sentenced for a guilty plea to felony corruption of minors in a plea bargain in which three felony and one misdemeanor charges related to the sexual assault of a person under sixteen years of age will not be prosecuted.
19-year-old Ibn Amir McClain, an inmate now being held at SCI Coal Township in Northumberland County, will be sentenced for aggravated harassment by a prisoner.
23-year-old Sydney Horel of Homer City will be sentenced for theft, with charges of theft by extortion exposing a secret and receiving stolen property not prosecuted. 29-year-old Kayla James of Homer City will be sentenced for the same charge in the same case.
44-year-old Michael Barnett of Glen Campbell will be sentenced for plea bargained charges of simple assault and resisting arrest, with multiple counts not prosecuted, including several for aggravated assault.
45-year-old Christopher Sullivan of Saltsburg will be sentenced for making terroristic threats.
Plea court appearances are scheduled today for:
- Francis Aukerman of Black Lick, who is charged with possession of a controlled substance and of drug paraphernalia.
- Jeffrey Stano of Slickville, who is charged with DUI and related traffic offenses, as well as simple assault with penetration by a hypodermic needle and possession of a controlled substance and of paraphernalia.
- Steve Shackleford of Cherry Tree, for charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, and harassment.
- Nicole Annette Hill of Indiana will have plea court for six separate cases. All of them include charges of theft, with additional charges of receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, and recklessly endangering.
- Jessica Saltsman of Indiana will enter pleas to possession of a small amount of marijuana and of paraphernalia.
- Alfred Painter of Heilwood will plead to charges of theft and receiving stolen property.
- Frank Moose III of Clymer will plead to a single count of theft by deception.
- Heather Shank of Indiana will plead in two cases, facing a single charge of retail theft in each of them.
There are three non-jury trials on today’s court schedule. 37-year-old Timothy McGill of Indiana is the defendant in two of them, and 25-year-old Colin Tyme of Indiana is the defendant in the other. The single charge in all three cases is contempt for violation of a court order or agreement.
