We’re in the middle of a very busy driving period for the public as the United States gets ready to celebrate Independence Day next week.
It’s predicted that this Independence day holiday, 47 million Americans are expected to travel 50 or more miles during the holiday driving period. State police and PennDOT are urging people to be careful about speeding and aggressive driving. Those two behaviors are among the leading causes of highway crashes in Pennsylvania.
Last year during the Independence Day driving period, State Police issued 820 speeding tickets and 187 seat belt citations, and made 120 DUI arrests.
State police are going to be on the lookout for not only aggressive driving habits, but for those who are driving intoxicated on the roads.
