The Indiana County Commissioners this morning approved a resolution that would reauthorize and extend the collection of fees to the Abandoned Mine Land Reclamation fund.
Commissioner Rod Ruddock said it was an important move for Indiana County to make to help get the abandoned mines back to where they need to be.

The agreement was set to expire in 2021, but under the re-authorization, the new end date would be in 2036.
In other business, the office of planning and development received approval of their own resolution to submit a Keystone Communities Program grant application of $500,000 with the state and the Department of Community and Economic Development. The money would be used to help develop and implement a broadband deployment strategy to get high-speed internet services to rural and under-served areas of the county.
