More information was released about an altercation inside a patrol vehicle on Monday.
The State Police Troop A Major Case team is investigating the incident that happened around 12:25 on Monday afternoon in a patrol vehicle near SCI Pine Grove. Two troopers and a prisoner being transferred back to the prison facility after a preliminary hearing were hurt in the incident near the prison’s entrance on Fyock Road.
State Police Public Information Officer, Trooper Cliff Greenfield said the two officers and the prisoner were treated at Indiana Regional Medical Center. The officers were released, but the prisoner was released back into the custody of SCI Pine Grove.
Greenfield also reports that both officers were assigned administrative duties while the investigation continues. He also stressed that this was not being done as a disciplinary move, but it is standard operating procedure of the state police.
State police are continuing their investigation.
