We are evidently nearing the completion of the three-year Route 119 Grove Chapel Hill climbing lane project.
Yesterday, final paving was completed and the new lines were installed, establishing the southbound truck climbing lane that will eliminate the slow crawl that plagued drivers stuck behind big rigs on the hill. In addition to the climbing lane, which extends all the way past Musser Nursery, the work included a realignment of the road that eliminated the curves between Musser’s and the Rayne Township Elementary School at the top of the hill, new access to Kimmel Road and Musser Road, and the installation of left-turn lanes.
Construction work zone speed limits remain in effect as workers continue wrapping up the $16 million project. PennDOT has not announced a completion date.
