Two state troopers and a 20-year-old prisoner were injured yesterday afternoon in an altercation inside a police cruiser near SCI Pine Grove in White Township.
In a news release, police say only that “an incident occurred inside the patrol vehicle” at 12:28 PM as police were taking the male prisoner following a preliminary hearing. It happened near the prison’s entrance on Fyock Road. The scene was immediately secured and medical aid was rendered. Both troopers and the prisoner suffered “minor to moderate injuries”. The troopers were treated and released at Indiana Regional Medical Center. There is no word on the condition of the prisoner.
State police, the Indiana County Sheriff’s office, the Indiana County District Attorney, Citizens Ambulance, Corrections Department, and the Indiana County Emergency Management Agency all responded to the scene.
The incident is under investigation by the State Police Troop A Major Case Team.
