Adam Frazier’s two-run single led a four-run outburst in the eighth inning as the Pirates beat the San Diego Padres, 6-3. It was the Bucs’ third straight win.
Jose Osuna hit a pinch-hit two-run home run in the game as well for the Pirates, giving them a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 5th inning. But Francisco Liriano gave up a run in the 7th inning to tie the game before Starling Marte led off the 8th with a triple, and Frazier squeezed a ground-ball single into center field to bring home Marte and Josh Bell, who had walked. Elias Diaz singled to drive in Corey Dickerson, who had been walked intentionally, and pinch hitter Jung Ho Kang hit a sacrifice fly to deep center, scoring Frazier. Kyle Crick got the win in relief, and Felipe Vazquez earned his 19th save.
The Pirates will try to sweep the series this afternoon with Steven Brault on the mound.
