After Saturday’s trade of defenseman Olli Maatta to Chicago for forward Dominik Kahun, the Penguins may have another move or two to make this week before Friday’s NHL entry draft in Vancouver.
The Maatta trade also got the Penguins another draft pick, a fifth round selection. The Penguins have the 21st overall pick…their first first-round pick in five years. They have five total picks this year, but none in the second or third rounds.
Only one Penguins draft choice in the last five years is currently with the Penguins. That’s forward Dominik Simon, a fifth-round choice in 2015.
