The trial of James Brown was to begin today, but it’s been moved to August. However, there are a number of other trials scheduled to get underway in Indiana County Court today.
Brown is the 34-year-old Rossiter man charged with homicide by vehicle and related offenses for a fiery crash that killed a woman last July at Pikels Top Tier Fuels in Home. His trial is now scheduled to begin on August 19th.
Three of the trials on today’s court schedule involve inmates at SCI Pine Grove:
- 19-year-old Salik Xavier Wright is scheduled for trial beginning today on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, and harassment while in prison. Wright is from Franklin County and is serving time for terroristic threats, robbery, assault, and related offenses.
- 18-year-old Ryshawn Crawford, an inmate from Philadelphia serving five to ten years for robbery, faces two trials today, both for aggravated harassment by a prisoner, once on February 8th this year and then again on March 2nd.
- 20-year-old Jonathan Nieves, an inmate serving time for a variety of crimes committed the last three years in four eastern Pennsylvania counties, faces trial today for aggravated assault, simple assault, and harassment.
Also facing trial today are 18-year-old Tatyana Georges of Philadelphia faces trail starting today for retail theft and providing false ID to a police officer. And 39-year-old Jamie Lee Barnhart of Torrance will have a jury trial starting today for retail theft and receiving stolen property.
Today’s Indiana County court schedule also includes sentencing of four defendants who have pleaded guilty in criminal cases.
They include 30-year-old Victor Motoya-Zunigo of Indiana, a former teller at S&T Bank who in a plea bargain admitted guilt to unauthorized access of a device issued to another and to attempted theft. Thirty-eight other offenses will not be prosecuted.
In December, police accused Montoya-Zunigo of attempting to swipe $39,000 from a woman’s account using his own photography company’s account and by posing as the grandson of a man whose stolen Social Security number he used to set up an online account for himself. He worked part-time at the bank’s Fourth Street branch in Indiana and bank officials alerted police to the crimes.
20-year-old Makaylia Geer of Cherry Tree will be sentenced for a guilty plea to conspiracy to robbery for participating in the assault and robbery of a Commodore man last November at an apartment in Clymer. The case came to light after video evidence of the incident appeared on social media.
Allen Dajon David Coleman of Cleveland, Ohio will be sentenced for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
51-year-old Frederick Johnson II of Indiana will be sentenced for operating a vehicle without the required ignition interlock.
