The Pirates have not announced a starter for tomorrow night, but it won’t be Nick Kingham. The right-hander who was designated for assignment last week was traded to Toronto yesterday for cash considerations. Kingham made 14 appearances with the Pirates this year and was 1-1 with a 9.87 ERA in 34 and two-thirds innings. He offered a very gracious tweet to the Pirates and to the Pittsburgh fans as he said goodbye, writing that the Pirates “…gave me the opportunity to live out my dream and, for that, I am forever grateful.”
Pitcher Trevor Williams made his first rehab start for Indianapolis last night. He’s been out with a right side strain since May 17th. The righty gave up two runs in three innings of an 11-3 loss. He threw 71 pitches, walked one, and struck out five. Reliever Chris Stratton began a rehab stint on Tuesday with Indianapolis. He pitched two innings and gave up a home run.
