The United Way of Indiana County has received funding to help emergency food and shelter programs.
According to a news release, the United Way of Indiana County received $45,514 in federal funds from the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board program administered through the Department of Homeland Security. Not only will the funding provide opportunities to aid and expand the work of social service agencies in the areas of food and shelter, the money can also be used for rent, mortgage or utility assistance.
Local non-profit and governmental organizations can apply for the money. Applications are now available on the United Way’s website, www.uwindianacounty.org. Interested parties can also call the United Way office at 724-463-0277 to get questions answered. The application deadline is July 8th.
