Altoona’s Domingo Robles and James Marvel dominated Akron from the mound on Saturday as the Curve swepy a doubleheader from the Rubber Ducks, 6-0 and 2-1.
Robles tossed a complete-game shutout in the first game, giving up just four hits while striking out three and walking none in the 7-inning game. Logan Hill has four RBI in the game, three of them coming on a bases-loaded triple in the third inning. He later walked with the bases loaded.
In the second game, Marvel overcame nine hits and four walks, going 6.2 innings while inducing four double-play grounders. Blake Weiman struck out Akron’s Wilson Garcia with the bases loaded to end the game. Trailing 1-0 entering the bottom of the sixth, the Curve rallied behind an RBI double by Jared Oliva and took the lead on a line drive single to right by Mitchell Tolman.
The series concludes in Altoona at 6 o’clock this evening Pedro Vasquez (4-1, 2.92 ERA) on the mound for the Curve.
