The Pirates lost again in Milwaukee yesterday, 5-3, as the Bucs’ pitching failed again.
After a two-run home run by Colin Moran staked them to a second-inning 2-0 lead, the Pirates’ Jordan Lyles could not hit his spots and gave the lead right back in the third. After Josh Bell’s sacrifice fly gave the Pirates a 3-2 lead, Lyles gave up a Mike Moustakas home run to tie it in the third, and the Brewers added another run on a Ryan Braun RBI single in the 4th. Pinch-hitter Manny Pina added an insurance run with a homer off Francisco Liriano in the 8th.
Lyles lasted just three innings, walking four, surrendering five hits, and giving up four runs.
Here’s a recap by Joe Block.
Steven Brault pitches for Pittsburgh today in the series finale.
