The State Senate has announced that Senator-elect Joe Pittman will be formally sworn in on Monday at 1 PM in the Senate Chamber at the State Capitol.
Pittman won a special election last night to replace his former boss, Senator Don White, who retired on February 28th. Pittman was White’s Chief of Staff for his entire 18-year tenure in the Senate, and he should have no trouble fitting in after working with senators, their staffs, and other government officials for years.
Pittman says it will not be difficult to focus on his top priority when he gets to Harrisburg. “First and foremost, Senator White always made it abundantly clear to me that the constituents of the 41st District are the top priority and to make sure that their needs are met and that they are served by our offices promptly and efficiently. “I am very relieved that I am able to enter this office with so much of the staff and infrastructure in place that Senator White had during his tenure, which will really allow me to give the folks of the District a voice in Harrisburg right away,”
Pittman says he is ready to step right in, “day one”, on the budget talks in Harrisburg, which according to the State Constitution, must be in place by June 30th.
