The Altoona Curve lost their fifth straight game last night on the road in Portland, Maine. The Portland Sea Dogs jumped on Curve starter Matt Eckelman for five runs in the first inning and taking the game, 5-3. Eckleman was starting for Pedro vasquez, who was called up to Indianapolis prior to the game.
Altoona’s Beau Susler threw four scoreless innings after taking over in the second, then Blake Cederling and Joel Cesar ended the game with scoreless innings from the 6th to the 8th for the Curve. Newly-promoted Ryan Peurifoy had two hits in his Altoona debut.
Sean Bradely starts for the Curve today as the series continues, with the Sea Dogs countering with Boston Red Sox pitcher Brian Johnson, who is on a minor league injury rehab stint.
