Last night, the White Township Supervisors received updates on two grants that are tied to projects.
One was for the “Green Light Go” grant to change the traffic signal at the intersection of Ben Franklin Road, Warren Road and Indian Springs Road. Township Manager Milt Lady said that they put in a request to lower the scope of work for the traffic light replacement project to reflect the amount of money they actually received for the project. If they get that permission, they will be able to continue with the project.
The other grant was to convert two trucks to hybrid vehicles. The grant would have two new township trucks converted to use regular gas or natural gas. Lady said they wanted more money to complete the project for two trucks, but since the extra money was rejected, they have decided to turn the grant money back in and not convert the trucks.
Finally, The supervisors gave Lady permission to draft a letter on behalf of the supervisors concerning House Bill 1037, which waives Uniform Construction Codes to allow historic agricultural buildings like barns being used for receptions and similar events without the need to bring the structure up to code or for safety inspections. Lady said that many others are against the bill.
