Lane restrictions will begin today in the Route 119 Three Bridges construction zone between Lucerne Mines Road and Route 56 in Homer City and Center Township. PennDOT says workers will be milling, patching, and laying new asphalt on the busy highway as they also continue rehabilitating a bridge.
The Three Bridges Project began in June of 2017 and will finally wrap up in the late fall of this year. In addition to the rebuilding of the bridge, it includes the elimination of the bridges over Tide Road and an abandoned private railroad, with Tide Road reconfigured to become an intersection with 119. The project also includes the widening of Route 119, new concrete separator barriers between the northbound and southbound lanes, and a new traffic signal for the dangerous Route 119/Route 56 intersection.
The lane restrictions that will begin today were originally announced for next Tuesday. PennDOT says the restrictions will be in effect until mid-August.
