UPDATE: Penelec reports that power, once again, is restored to the area of Wayne Avenue and Indian Springs Road as of 10:25 AM today.
PenElec reported in the 7:00 hour that power was restored to the 44 customers in the Lucernemines/White township area. Power was reported out again in the same area at 8:30. Fire crews were called back out for traffic control as the power outage affected a traffic light at the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Indian Springs Road. Just a reminder that if you encounter a traffic light that is out, treat the intersection as an all-way stop.
There are spot outages in the area of North Ben Franklin Road in White Township and Route 422 in Shelocta. There is also a report of utility lines down on East Church Street in Center Township.
WHAT WE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED
Power is out to an area of White Township this morning as fire crews responded to some problems with power lines in the area of Wayne Avenue and Indian Springs Road.
The Indiana Fire Association was originally called out at 12:16 for safety reasons as power lines were down in the area of the Dutch Acres development and the Ramada Inn by Wyndham. Fire officials say that the lines were pulled down as a coal truck went by with the dump bucket fully extended upwards. The bucket pulled down the power lines and caused the outage.
Right now, PenElec is reporting an outage in the White Township/Lucernemines area that is affecting 45 of their customers. Power is expected to be restored to all customers by 9:30 this morning. REA Energy is not reporting any outages at this time.
