Indiana Borough Police said a suspicious persons arrest lead to a drug bust in the 700 block of Philadelphia Street on Friday morning.
Police say around 8:23 AM, police got the call for the suspicious person. As an officer interacted with 28-year-old Kory Clever of Blairsville, a second man, later identified as 34-year-old Monty Gene Smith II of Apollo began to walk from the area. Smith fled the area on foot, but was detained a short distance away. Smith was agitated at the time and showed signs of impairment.
Smith was returned to Philadelphia Street. Smith and Clever reported to be passengers in a vehicle on Philadelphia Street, and that vehicle contained drug paraphernalia in plain view. The car was searched and a book bag belonging to Smith was found, and it contained an ounce of suspected crystal meth and other controlled substances.
Smith now faces charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, possession with intent to use drugs, public drunkenness, and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned before district Judge Jennifer Rega and placed in Indiana County Jail in lieu $50,000 straight cash bail.
