The Heritage Conference postponed its baseball championship game between Ligonier Valley and West Shamokin tonight due to the conditions caused by rain. The game has been moved to Wednesday at 7 pm at First Commonwealth Bank Field in Homer City. More information will be released soon on the radio broadcast of the game.
District 6 also postponed its Track and Field Championship Meet, which was to take place on Tuesday. The meet has now also been moved to Wednesday at Altoona’s Mansion Park, with action to begin at 3:30.
The Heritage Conference softball championship game is still slated for Wednesday at 7 pm at Donaldson Field in Ligonier. The game was scheduled to air on WCCS, but the rescheduling of the baseball game will affect that scheduling, so more information will be released soon on the radio broadcast of the game.
In response to inquiries as to why the softball game is the home field of one of the teams in the game, a conference spokesperson issued the following statement:
“We had selected LV as the softball host prior to the start of the season. We had also selected Homer City as the baseball host prior to the start of the season. This was done with the understanding the host schools could potentially be in the game.
Same thing happened last year in softball Northern Cambria was the host and played in the game.”
