William L. Sprankle, age 77 of Shelocta, died Monday May 6, 2019 at Indiana Regional Medical Center.
He was born in 1941 in Home, PA to W. Glenn and Margaret Fleda DeBonney Sprankle.
Bill was a member of the Crete Presbyterian Church, a life-time member of the VFW Post #1989, and a member of the ReTreads Motocycle Club.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served for 12 years in the US Navy as a radio operator.
Bill was employed by Penelec at the Keystone Generating Station for 24 years in the supply room.
He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, farming, riding his motorcycle and enjoyed his many pets over the years.
Surviving are his significant other – Evelyn Malcolm, Shelocta; one sister – Virginia McQuilkin, Geneva, NY; a brother-in-law – William Abel and wife Gladys, Shelocta; and the following nieces and nephew – Bryon McQuilkin and wife Beth, Lee Simms and husband Bill, Jennifer Shesman and husband Michael, Lisa Snyder and husband Robert, numerous great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best buddy “Jax.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Kathleen Ann Sprankle in 2010, and by one sister Peggy Condron.
Friends will be received on Saturday at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. where a memorial service will begin at 1 P.M. with the Rev. Katie Ward-Stear officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery, Shelocta. Graveside military honors will be provided by the VFW Post #1989.
