The young man killed yesterday morning in a crash in Westmoreland County was from West Wheatfield Township in Indiana County.
The Westmoreland County coroner’s office identifies the victim as 19-year-old Hunter Figard of New Florence. Although the borough of New Florence is in Westmoreland County, some residents of West Wheatfield Township have New Florence addresses.
Figard’s southbound 2005 Chevy pickup truck crossed the center line on Route 711 at Robb Road in St. Clair Township, outside of New Florence, at around 7:45 yesterday morning. The truck hit a tree alongside the road.
Figard was unresponsive when firefighters arrived. He was pronounced dead from multiple blunt-force trauma. A 17-year-old male passenger, also with a New Florence address, was taken by ambulance to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown. His name has not been released.
