State police have issued surveillance images of suspects in a number of thefts at retail outlets in Indiana County, and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying them.
Among the open cases is a theft that happened February 26th at 8:38 AM at the Burrell Township Walmart store. A woman had completed her shopping and was loading groceries into her vehicle when a man and woman stole her purse from her shopping cart. The suspects walked across the parking lot to the trash dumpster area near the Advance Auto Parts store and later fled on foot across Route 22. The woman’s purse was later recovered with about $100 missing. The suspects are a man and woman, both white, and both wearing sweatpants and hoodies.
A second open investigation is for a theft at the White Township Walmart between March 26th and April 8th. Police say the suspect, a black male wearing what appears to be an orange or red Adidas hoodie, failed to scan all of the items in his basket at the self-checkout area. He got into a waiting vehicle and left. Police later identified the driver of the vehicle, who was unable to provide an identity of the thief.
In a third case, a white male, about thirty years of age, loaded about sixty items into his shopping cart and wheeled it out of the store without paying for them. It happened last Thursday at 5:43 AM at the White Township Walmart store. The man is pictured wearing a dark beanie-style skull cap, a black jacket, and blue jeans.
Finally, police are seeking a woman who stole a twenty-dollar bill that was mistakenly left in the bill dispenser at the self-checkout of the Burrell Township Walmart store on April 22nd. The woman was the customer at the next register. Police say she took the twenty, put it on the scale, then placed another item on top of it, moving the item and the money into her grocery bag. She’s white with medium-length brown hair with blonde highlights, and was wearing a dark sweatshirt with distinctive white writing across its front.
