IUP has found a new vice president for student affairs after a national search.
Thomas Segar comes to IUP with over 20 years of experience in the education field, serving in the same position with Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia since August of 2011. He will continue to serve there until the end of the school year.

In a statement, IUP president Dr. Michael Driscoll said that everyone who talked with him was impressed with Segar’s energy, experience, his focus on student success, and team-based approach. Right now, Segar is responsible for leadership in both the student development and information technology programs at Shepherd. He has also chaired the school’s Diversity and Equality Committee for the last nine years, and helped establish the university’s first faculty award for diversity and social justice in teaching, scholarship and service.
Segar said he was impressed with IUP’s focus on the student experience, learning, development and multiculturalism, saying those areas reflect his personal values.
Segar will take over for the interim vice president of student affairs Charlie Fey, who has served in that position since the retirement of Rhonda Luckey.
Segar’s first day as the new VP of Student Affairs will be June 17th.
