Three Indiana County school districts have been awarded a total of $367,597 in state grants through the state’s School Safety and Security Grant Program, which is administered by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.
State representative Jim Struzzi announced the grants yesterday. The Indiana Area School District will receive $140,331. Homer Center will get $100,044. United will get $127,222.
The School Safety and Security Grant Program was created by the legislature last year. School districts may use the funds for hiring school security officers, purchasing security technology, completing safety and security assessments, and a variety of student services, such as counseling, safety courses, and violence prevention.

- The Armstrong School District- $86,813
- Derry Area – $80,564
- Ligonier Valley – $195,504
